The indigo blue of this antique curtain is just gorgeous! It's an incredible, saturated deep indigo blue tone - I adore this piece! This was a bedcurtain that dates to the mid to late 1700s; it's a wonderful medium weight cotton! The top is hemmed with lovely hand stitching, and reinforced on the back with a beautiful strip of two different printed fabrics; just beautiful! There is one curtain ring left on the top; the others are no longer attached, but you can see the stitches where they were attached to the top. One side is hemmed with a beautiful hand stitched seam. The selvage is intact along the other side but there is evidence where it had been hemmed before; there are still tiny threads along the edge that could easily be removed! The bottom is hemmed and trimmed with a pretty strip of fine red trim. There is a seam also running the length of this piece, as it was made by seaming together two separate panels of this beautiful fabric. This curtain is not backed. It would be lovely hung as a curtain once again, but also could be deconstructed and used for pillows, upholstery, lampshades, or many other projects! A gorgeous addition to any period interior!
